What a Month

I had the intention of writing every night. Something, anything. Even if it was short or didn’t make a lot of sense.

But this month has been oddly busy, and more overwhelming than I expected. My husband is a UPS driver so this is our busy season. But this is by far HIS busyiest peak season to date. He’s worked more hours and Saturdays than typical peaks, and he is more exhausted than normal.

And so am I. Solo parenting isn’t for the faint of heart, and it’s ever so complicated by being pregnant to boot. So when bedtime rolls around, it’s bedtime for EVERYONE.

I’m grateful for the time with my kids and I’m grateful for the pay that goes along with the hours. But it doesn’t make it any less hard. But hard doesn’t have to mean bad.

We’ve kept much of the Christmas spirit alive and well. The girls have enjoyed a lot of Christmas traditions and we’ve even started a few new ones. Some have had to be adjusted or adapted, but they’ve still been great.

This season has been a mix of hard, fun, busy, exhausting, and peaceful all at the same time. I’m grateful for it, and I’m ready for it to be over.

Christmas is just a few days away, and I can’t wait to enjoy it as a family of 5. Because when it’s over, we start the tear down of the Christmas season in order to usher in the next new baby season.

So, let’s rock and roll. Christmas Eve is tomorrow. Memories will be made, fun will be had, and many songs will be sung. I’m ready! Let’s go!
